Theft from person in St Albans City centre

We are investigating a theft from person in St Albans City Centre, between 10:00am and 12:00pm on Thursday 4th June 2026. Victim was shopping in the City Centre and whist waiting for the bus Victim has found the bag has been unzipped and wallet containing victims bank card stolen. The suspect then went and used the victims bank card several times in a shop.

 Have you noticed anyone or anything suspicious in the area or have any information that may be of use to the police regarding this crime which may assist us?

Tips

. Do not leave your purse in a shopping trolley, buggy or walker whiles shopping

. Beware of strangers asking for DONATION/CHARITY, try to keep your distance.  

. Beware of your surrounding in crowded places and ATM

* Do not place large amount of cash or valuables on the passenger seat, exercise caution if strangers approach your vehicle following a trip to the bank. 

.Make sure you have your phone or large amount of cash secured in button or zipped pocket and close to you.

. Do use a money belt if you’re carrying a significant quantity of cash and purse that’s’ difficult to open. One that zips or snaps shut is best and keep it closed and close to you.

. Do carry bags in front of you or diagonally across your chest

. Cancel all bank Cards and call 101 when you realise your purse/phone have been stolen
